Russia’s Football Union has called for TV channels to abandon the 2 pm league matches in summer due to
"feverishly" hot weather conditions. “From the 2007 season Russian TV channels are broadcasting live key
league matches at 2pm. We know by our experience how hard it is to play during this particular time in
summer months and it’s harmful for one’s health... We also believe that attendances are falling because of
the timing,” said the appeal. There is no agreement on the TV schedule for the next season. CSKA Moscow
coach Valery Gazzayev, whose team only have a theoretical chances of defending their league title, said his
side is struggling this season due to daytime matches.
