Leonid Fedun, vice president of Russia's second biggest oil company LUKOIL and the owner of Russian
Premier Liga leaders Spartak Moscow, has announced that during the first half of the year the club spent
some 31 million dollars and received approximately 19 million dollars. "We lost some 8 million dollars, or maybe even
more after we'd missed the UEFA Champions League group stage," Fedun said. "Without this we'd have a
deficit of 10 million dollars, but now we are going to have about 20 million dollars. It's difficult to say, what we will
get in the UEFA Cup, maybe some 3 million dollars." Fedun also said that LUKOIL is funding Spartak
with 7 million dollars each year while the rest is covered with the club's "commercial activity". "Internet shopping
is doing well in the club site. This year we expect the revenues from the sales is going to be at some 2
million dollars," he added. According to Fedun, Spartak's sales of season tickets are the best in Russia, with some
8,000 being sold each year. "A top match can bring some 370,000 uero," he said. Fedun also doubted that the
majority of clubs in Russia would ever be profitable.
