Russian parliament member Sergei Popov has proposed scrapping a controversial law that restricts beer
advertising at sporting venues and during sporting events. The law prohibits advertising beer on TV from
7am-10pm and outlaws brewer’s publicity from the venues altogether. "These laws are often not abided by",
said Popov. Popov pointed out that Scottish Premier League club Celtic bore a Carling brewery ad on their
shorts during their matches against Spartak Moscow in the UEFA Champions League preliminary round.
"Our sportsmen thus have a disadvantage", said the MP. He also highlighted the fact that Moscow will host
